Introduction to Culham Centre for Fusion Energy 1:05

Culham Centre for Fusion Energy (CCFE) is UKAEA’s world-leading laboratory for fusion science and engineering.

MAST fusion experiment: a miniature star on Earth 0:42

Video of a typical ‘pulse’ experiment inside the MAST tokamak at Culham Centre for Fusion Energy.

JET fusion experiment: the hottest place in the Solar System 0:57

A plasma video from the Joint European Torus (JET) – the world’s largest and most powerful tokamak, which CCFE operates for EUROfusion.

MAST Upgrade: Shaping fusion power for the future 3:47

Find out how and why we’re planning to ‘bottle the sun’ in our new fusion energy device, MAST Upgrade!

How to Build a Fusion Machine 1:44

Ever wondered how a fusion machine is put together? Watch the assembly of MAST Upgrade, the UK’s newest fusion device, to find out!

MAST Upgrade’s Super-X Divertor 0:49

MAST Upgrade is equipped with a world-first exhaust system, the Super-X Divertor. Watch this short animation to find out more.

Introduction to the Fusion Technology Facilities 1:05

The Fusion Technology Facilities (FTF) is UKAEA’s new centre of excellence for meeting the challenges that will be faced when building future fusion power stations.

Introduction to the Hydrogen-3 Advanced Technology (H3AT) centre 1:05

Research resources

Software developed at CCFE and made available for research collaborators.

FISPACT-II

FISPACT-II is a multi-physics platform providing a wide variety of advanced simulation methods and employing the most up-to-date and complete nuclear data for both neutron and charged-particle interactions.

PROCESS

PROCESS is a System code that explores the conceptual design and feasibility of a future fusion power plant.  It finds a set of parameters that optimises criteria chosen by the user (such as cost of electricity or ratio of fusion power to input power), while being consistent with the inputs and the specified constraints.

SPILADY

SPILADY is a spin-lattice molecular dynamics simulation code for undergraduate students, scientists and researchers.

Bluemira

Bluemira is an integrated inter-disciplinary design tool for future fusion reactors. It incorporates several modules, some of which rely on other codes, to carry out a range of typical conceptual fusion reactor design activities.
