Culham Centre for Fusion Energy
Culham Centre for Fusion Energy is the UK’s national fusion laboratory. We are working with research partners and industry around the globe to realise the enormous potential of fusion for generating low-carbon electricity.
History
The UK Atomic Energy Authority created Culham Laboratory as a purpose-built home for Britain’s fusion research programme. Officially opened in 1965, it was constructed on the site of a former airfield, Royal Naval Air Station Culham.
Location
Culham Centre for Fusion Energy is based at Culham Campus in Oxfordshire, about 50 miles west of London and eight miles south of Oxford.
