We are hosting a recruitment day at our site at Culham, Oxfordshire, to invite talented Electrical / Electronic Engineers to meet with some of our hiring managers and learn more about the opportunities available.
The day will involve a presentation about UKAEA, a tour of some of our facilities, as well as a 15 minute interview slot where you will speak with hiring managers to discuss your skills and experience.
Location: Culham Science Centre
The United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority is at the forefront of delivering sustainable fusion energy. Work currently being undertaken by UKAEA is moving away from scientific research to engineering delivery. Electrical Engineers are at the heart of enabling this clean and safe form of energy to be realised.
Within UKAEA’s Culham site, engineers work on modifications and improvements to JET (the world’s largest and most powerful fusion research facility) and MAST Upgrade (the UK’s fusion experiment). They also work on major new projects including the National Fusion Technology Platform and for STEP (Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production) as well as on Remote Handling projects for the RACE robotics centre.
Off-site, engineers are also actively supporting the development of the next generation of fusion research machines such as ITER in the south of France, and the DEMO project – the fusion power plant demonstration facility planned to be online by 2050. Other projects employing fusion-related technology such as the European Spallation Source in Lund, Sweden are also supported by UKAEA.
At UKAEA, we offer a varied workload across all these facilities and more. We currently have vacancies from entry level to lead engineering (from £25,000 – £60,000) in the following disciplines:
- Control & Instrumentation
