Please be aware that any offer of employment will be subject to satisfactory completion of a number of pre-employment checks.

Right to work in the UK

Candidates who are a British citizen, a European Economic Area (EEA) citizen or a Swiss National have the right to work in the UK without obtaining a work permit. However, please note that you will need to produce clear documentation to show that you have formal permission to work in the UK. This documentation will be checked and verified during the interview process.

UKAEA is licensed to sponsor migrants under Tiers 2 & 5 of the Points-Based System. The process for obtaining a visa can be complex and will depend on the pool of candidates who apply for each vacancy as to whether sponsorship can be granted.

Security checks

You will be required to undergo basic security vetting, including a criminal records check.


We will request details of your referees, one of whom must be your current or most recent employer. We will not contact your referees until a verbal offer of employment has been made and accepted.
