Every year CCFE and its operator the UK Atomic Energy Authority have many projects for undergraduate and masters students, ranging from a few months to year in industry projects. However, these are almost always set up in collaboration with university courses with which we have special partner arrangements.
If you are interested in a placement at Culham please enquire whether your university department has a link with UKAEA. We do occasionally have summer placements that do not have to meet this condition, in which case we advertise individual projects on these web pages and indicate how students can apply.
More information about summer placements and typical opportunities:
- For those looking for a mechanical or electrical engineering focus, applications for a limited number of 10-week placements in summer 2020 will be open early in 2020. Please check our job vacancies page, where the advert will be posted;
- SEPNET (South East Physics Network) offers placements to those working in a physics discipline – again the recruitment process is driven via the collaborating universities and will be advertised locally;
- Placements funded by EUROfusion must meet stringent eligibility requirements and are generally arranged directly with universities;
- Occasionally, there are opportunities funded through collaborations between UKAEA and external organisations/institutes. These are generally advertised directly to those who are potentially eligible.
